Literacy Improves with Personalization!

A recent study conducted by the U.S. Department of Education found that nearly 90 million Americans lacked basic literacy skills. This may be a shocking statistic to some, and to others a call to action.

Lisa Whiting, owner and operator of Books Unique, does her part in improving literacy skills in children, and hopefully instills a passion for reading in the process.

Books Unique specializes in personalized books for children. On the website one selects a type of book from various categories such as baby books, anniversary, graduation, and more. After the type of book is selected, the customer completes a brief information form with the child's name, age, hometown, friend's names, and other information that will be used to make the child the star of their own story! Once the order is submitted, the creation of the personalized book begins. The main character assumes the child's name, age, hometown, and so on making him or her personally involved in the story.

"Children will actually want to read these stories because the story is about them," says Lisa. Lisa is a stay-at-home Mom interested in working with educators to improve literacy using personalization. She is also available for involvement in fund raising campaigns.
