Adventures on Apple Tree Farm Child Activity Kit

No More... "I'm Bored"... This Summer! As summer approaches, most parents are looking for ways to fill their children's days with fun educational value. Too often we hear, "I'm bored!" from our children and they look to us, as parents, to find solutions to their entertainment. While children are perfectly capable of finding ways to amuse themselves, it can't hurt to provide a little help.

This summer, there is a new option to add to your daily routine: a program designed by an Usborne Books Supervisor and former teacher called Ten Terrific Weeks. Parents, teachers, and other child educators are using this program as a fun way to keep children learning.

And, it's not just about learning. The benefit of committing a small amount of time each day to spend with your children is invaluable! Children look forward to the program each day because it is fun and they have special individual time with you. These memories will last a life time.

So, what is it?

Each Ten Terrific Weeks program is a set of reading adventures focused on specific units of study. Each set includes:

a themed set of reading books
educational activities for 10 weeks
a curriculum with unit topics for discussion
additional correlated activities.
any needed worksheets
a shopping list for any supplies or food (if needed)

Daily activities are age-appropriate, interactive ideas, which make learning fun and typically take an hour or less. Because of this, you can choose to use the kit only on weekends if that fits your schedule better. The goal is for every child to be excited about learning!

There is nothing as special as seeing a child's face light up when they learn something new.

Ten Terrific Weeks programs are separated into two learning levels: Lower Elementary (ages 3-8) and Upper Elementary (ages 8-12). The lower level program sets for $50 each include: Adventures at Apple Tree Farm, Adventures at Sea, Adventures of the Human Body (lower level), and Adventures of Fairy Princesses. The Upper Elementary Programs are $75 each and include unit studies: Adventures of the Human Body (upper level), Adventures in Creativity, Adventures in Knighthood, Adventures in Literature, Adventures in the Arts, and Adventures in Space.

In each unit study you will find specific weekly topics. For example, the weeks in Adventures of Fairy Princesses are scheduled as:

Week 1: Crowning the Princess
Week 2: Magic!
Week 3: Decorating the Castle
Week 4: Getting your Fairy Wings
Week 5: Puppet Show
Week 6: Fairyland
Week 7: Butterflies
Week 8: Flowers
Week 9: Getting Ready for a Party
Week 10: Fairy Princess Party

During these weeks, the children are working on specific skills: imagination, fine-motor skills, sequencing, visual-spatial awareness, artistic abilities, following directions, math skills and self-expression. All the Ten Terrific Weeks programs follow similar format.
